In Edgar Allan Poe's The Raven, a grieving narrator, mourning the loss of his beloved Lenore, is visited by a raven on a dreary December night. The bird's only response to his questions, the chilling "Nevermore," intensifies his despair and drives him towards madness, exploring themes of grief, loss, and the supernatural.

Looking at my previous graphic styles of working I decided to make this project more illustration-heavy than text. I went in a new direction with stream of conscious drawings to create The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe. My new process consisted of drawing while listening to the stories I would illustrate and creating flowing wordless panels. Highlighting the psychological dream-like environment of horror but in an accessible style for young adults.

The Fall of the House of Usher features an unnamed narrator visiting his friend Roderick Usher, who is suffering from a mysterious illness and living in his ancestral home with his twin sister, Madeline, who is also unwell. The narrator, drawn by Roderick's desperate plea for companionship, finds the house and its surroundings to be gloomy and oppressive, reflecting the family's decaying state.
